I've got a lot of time for creative work these days since I'm on crutches and there is only so much tv i can stand. I propped my ankle up on the table and began to paint. I put down some simple washes to see what little surprises I got with this medium. Little blossoms and those irregular bits you get with watercolor made for some interesting landscapes. I like how the second one looks like a beach dune. And the cityscape on the bottom one has a ghosted feel. Just little experiments...but they were fun.
Sometimes I just break out the watercolors and color pencils and just go to town. It's a nice start to the day to be creative without any guidelines or restrictions. This was from this morning.
I love summer and being outdoors. It is so nice to pack my bag with watercolors and sketchbooks and head to the pool. I always go down the big slide a few times and do laps, but then i usually break out a sketchbook and start creating. As an illustrator, sometimes it is just nice to draw what you want vs. what is required of you. And it's always so nice to work with the sounds of laughter and kids playing Marco Polo.
