It was only 26 degrees, but I couldn't wait to get outside. There is something magical about winter. The past few winters have been so mild and even this year has very little snow accumulation. I just love to walk around town and look at the woods, the homes, the bits of nature, etc. It is great for creativity too!
a foggy walk
Took the most amazing walk yesterday. It wasn’t so foggy when I started out but about a mile in, I could barely see more than 500 feet or so. I’m always reflecting when I am walking…this has been the most bizarre year on record. I think about just how radically our lives have changed and also how we have adapted. I always feel peaceful when I am outside and in nature. It’s hard not to be. I write a lot in my head and seem to be able to problem solve as I go––making notes on my phone then running back home to scribble an idea. I am grateful for my walks. I am grateful for so much.
Trees, trees and more trees!
I’ve been painting and sketching on the go lately. Currently obsessed with trees! Can’t stop looking at them on my walks. Some of the trees here in Montclair are over 100 years old. The weather here has finally warmed and I have really enjoyed getting outside and breathing the fresh air. Pollution is way down due to so many businesses shut down. Car emissions down due to lack of commuters. So in that aspect, it’s great. I am so sooooo grateful that I have had this book project throughout all this. It has kept me focused and I work long days, which I much prefer to sitting around! This book will be coming out next year now—March as listed on Amazon. I hope everyone is safe and in good health.
Autumn colors
Been going on the most gorgeous walks lately. The foliage is finally starting to peak here. I just love fall. The colors and sky are amazing. Just wish it lasted longer!
fog
I was riding through Eagle Rock reservation the other day and snapped a few photos as we wound down the narrow switchbacks. There is something so magical about fog-the way it ghosts large portions of the landscape, while making some take center stage. The gray provides a perfect backdrop to the verdant greens. It's a fleeting work of art, really.
