Took a lovely stroll through this neighborhood in Philly recently. SO much charm! I love all the period details on the homes—reminded me a bit of Beacon Hill in Boston. The brick, the boot scrapers, marble stairs, architectural details and little surprises like the sweet dog taking a nap in the window!
spring in montclair...
It feels as though Spring is much later this year. I took a walk in the park and only a handful of cherry blossoms were in full bloom. But so gorgeous! The tulips and daffodils too. I laughed when I saw this bunny face dangling from a branch. I’m sure some kid lost in on Easter.
the Barnes
I finally visited the Barnes Foundation in Philly. Artworks are arranged in ensembles that emphasize visual relationships—there are no labels like you would see in a typical museum. There are tons of unique objects orbiting around the paintings—especially elaborate hinges and implements. All the groupings relate to each other somehow and the longer you observe them, the more you can see it. I only wish that some of the smaller works were not hung quite so high. I also discovered Glackens for the first time and loved his work!
kitsch fix...
wandering around a vintage store always makes me smile. I love all the toys, packaging and ceramics.
scenes from the week...
The best part of taking walks are the unexpected things you see along the way. A “doggy library”…brilliant! I also loved the typography on this vintage car.
