I received the actual, hard bound book of Mr. Biddles recently! Always so exciting to see your book come to life. I've had F&G's for some time, but to hold the book in your hands is always a sweet milestone. Here are some shots of the book, the jacket flaps and a note from my editor. :)

I've recently signed with a licensing agency and have been creating all kinds of work for the gift and home decor industries. It's fun to flex a different creative muscle and create images (shown comped here) for things like journals, notebooks, wall art, textiles, etc. It's a lot of fun. I've been working with a very sharp, energetic creative director who has the best sense of what manufacturers are seeking, what sells, color trends, thematic trends, and so on. I haven't made a formal announcement as I am waiting for their new website to be up. My work was shown both at Surtex and the Licensing Expo in Vegas this spring. (photos coming) I've always had pretty solid career goals, so this is something I really hope takes off. I would love to have a line of dishes, stationery and home decor products.
Lovey Bunny makes a library TOP 10! Whoo-hoo
My first book got some love from a librarian in Michigan. It is so nice to see that kids are checking my book out. Lovey is like my "Little Engine that Could"; (albeit a bit of a sales mystery) -with two retail seasons in Target, three printings and an upcoming board book version launching later this year. But you have to celebrate all the little milestones. :)

Wednesday afternoon at the Met!
Had a nice day with my friends yesterday visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art where we took in two shows: the Rei Kawakubo exhibit which showcased designs from Comme De Garcon and the Irving Penn retrospective, which--among other gems featured his original Rolleiflex camera!

Both shows were inspiring. After our art fix, we headed to the roof where we had a lovely cocktail with sweeping views of the city all around us. I love these girls! Never a dull moment and always lots of laughter! Who doesn't need laughter!?!

We finished off the night with a dinner at Caneletto-a small but cozy Italian restaurant that we started to frequent back in the days of PS 182, where our CBIG meetings were once held. Always delicious, albeit a tad pricy at times (at least for an artist) but the staff is lovely!!! A nod to Vito, our patient waiter last night. Right out of Italy!!!

One of the most beautiful treasures in Montclair is the Avis Campbell Gardens. I go there all year long and there is always something different blooming each season (except winter). It's tucked away and I love to see when people first stumble upon it. Absolutely gorgeous. I went Friday with my watercolor class and it was so nice to paint outside with nothing but chirping birds and the sound of the water fountain babbling away...Sure beats sitting in front of my computer!
My parents visited this past week so I spent a lot of time walking in the park with my dad each morning. From turtles, geese, cardinals, ducks and egrets to every assortment of dog I was in critter heaven. And then there was just the sheer beauty of spring unfolding everywhere.
