I committed to this practice of working in my sketchbook each morning and have really enjoyed it! I did it for a few reasons, but mostly to break out of drawing the same types of things over and over—and to experiment with different techniques. Lately I am working primarily in gouache and colored pencils, but other days I just sketch in graphite or play in watercolor. I force myself to try new subject matter so that I can become more skilled in creating more complex scenes; drawing from different points of view and angles. I highly recommend this practice to any illustrator. It is such a peaceful way to start the day. :)
Trees, trees and more trees!
I’ve been painting and sketching on the go lately. Currently obsessed with trees! Can’t stop looking at them on my walks. Some of the trees here in Montclair are over 100 years old. The weather here has finally warmed and I have really enjoyed getting outside and breathing the fresh air. Pollution is way down due to so many businesses shut down. Car emissions down due to lack of commuters. So in that aspect, it’s great. I am so sooooo grateful that I have had this book project throughout all this. It has kept me focused and I work long days, which I much prefer to sitting around! This book will be coming out next year now—March as listed on Amazon. I hope everyone is safe and in good health.
