eerie orange sky...

Last week, the effects of the Canadian wildfires impacted everyone here in the tri-state area with an acrid smell in the air and weather that began as hazy and, in a bizarre mid-afternoon hour on Wednesday—turned the sky to orange. My studio got so dark that I had to turn on a light. When I looked outside, I spotted a red tailed hawk sitting very low on one of the power lines. I could only guess that he was was seeking refuge from even more toxic air at higher altitudes. He sat there for over an hour—even returning a little later in the day. I tried to get a better photo but this is all I have. I feel so sad for the wildlife and wish I could help them somehow. These wildfires are so heartbreaking.
